Garden Ridge, Texas
Alyssa and I go way back, like middle school soccer way back. I wouldn’t repeat middle school for anything less than a million bucks (acne and retainers and so much hair gel), but Alyssa and that soccer team were definitely highlights. We later went to the same high school and had a lot of the same activities. Pre-basketball tournament sleepovers were our jam. I remember her family having the most loving and tight-knit dynamic of any family I knew. They all seemed to be each other’s best friends and that was ingrained in me as something I wanted for my own future family.
So, you know the drill, when Alyssa asked me to capture her big day I jumped on being a part of the occasion.
It only takes a minute to see that Dolan is the perfect match to Alyssa. They’re both clearly laid back, passionate about their families, and interested in the finer things in life (each reception table was named after a different location from various sci-fi movies and books ie. The Shire, The Forest Moon of Endor, Sherwood Forest, etc.). They’re so on the same page that I’m excited to see these 2 grow and adventure together. I give ’em 5 years before they’re communicating telepathically. (I was about to make a Betazoid joke, but none of their tables were Star Trek related so…)
Their gorgeous spa and gold vineyard wedding was a classic. The details came together in a way that was both natural feeling and sophisticated at the same time. Honeysuckle, roses, and baby’s breath scented the scene. Burlap and jars filled with twinkle lights accessorized the evening. Alyssa and Dolan wrote their own vows, nearly every single person ended up on the dance floor, and the evening ended with the coolest fiber optic light wand send off.
& of course a mini high school reunion occurred.
